Hi Claudiu - thanks! :)
I've read pieces on forcing permission for tracking but I don't see that actually happening any time soon. Even when sites ask their visitors' permission, it tends to annoy more than anything. It's a bit of a catch-22 situation. The media may have a lot to answer for - it's a great fall-back for scaremongering on a slow news day, but show me a news site that is NOT tracking website visitors. If people can just understand that this is a pretty standard practice and that it's part and parcel of life online, perhaps they would not be so distrustful. I do think it would be great for the WAA to have information for visitors as part of overall eduction on web analytics. There is more to worry about online than tracking code.

Hi Emer. Spot on, like usual. :)

In EU they are even going to enforce a law through which website will have to require permission from the users in order to track him. It's not clear how that is going to be done, but anyway, I believe such a law would be against the end users actually. Without the collected data, how can small website afford to optimized their performance?

I believe the key is education of the "visitors" and I think WAA should get this on their agenda as soon as possible.
